History of Tailfeathers

The Tailfeather's Tale

In 1978 there were few houses in Peacock Hills and the nearest store was five miles away. With no provision for a Club House there was little to do in an area that looked like a white desert. Two determined ladies with a club in mind went from door to door in an effort to recruit members. Fifteen attended the first meeting.

The Club was founded in June 1979 by a group of six residents as a non-profit organization for the purpose of promoting social activities involving the women residents of Peacock Hills. A president and officers were chosen, rules established and the name "Tailfeathers" was selected in harmony with Peacock Hills. The purpose of the Club is to promote social activities involving the women residents of Peacock Hills.

We are Non-profit club conducted under Roberts Rules and devoted to the pursuit of Fun and Good Fellowship. As the Community expanded so did the membership to its present level of well over one hundred members. Members meet for lunch on the second Wednesday of each month with the exception of July and August, at different restaurants in the immediate vicinity. At some of our luncheons we have entertainment or a fashion show.

A monthly Newsletter and Annual membership roster is published. There are many varied and interesting activities and the dues are only $8:00 per year.

The Tailfeathers Ladies Club consists of varied group activities such as; Needlecraft, Decor, Bridge, Theater, Happy Hour, etc. A group is composed of 6 to 8 ladies. A new group may be formed whenever there are enough ladies interested to start one. Other Social Activities are: Bridge - Brunch Bunch - Gardening - Hand and Foot (Cards)- Koffee Klatch- Social- Supper Club and Walking Group.

From the past to the future, thanks to the six ladies who made it happen and to the ladies who keep it going.
